  • 1 large white onion
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • oil
    For onion rings
  1. Grate the white onion using the cheese grater. Place the paper towel over the grated onion to absorb excess water. Dispose of the paper towel.
  2. Add half the bread crumbs, 1 tbsp. all-purpose flour and 1tbsp milk to the grated onions.
  3. Combine all the ingredients very well to form a soft dough.
  4. Take about 1 or 1+1/2 tbsp. of dough mixture on another plate or chopping board, form into an elongated roll (as shown in picture). Next, shape it into a ring. Place it on a plate. Repeat with the rest of the mixture.
  5. Place the plate in the freezer for at least 2 hours or until the onion ring becomes firm.
  6. For coating
  7. In a plate/bowl, mix garlic powder with the remaining breadcrumbs.
  8. In another bowl, mix together flour and enough milk to make a nice paste that is neither runny nor thick.
  9. Take the onion rings out of the freezer. Dip the ring in the flour paste. Then dip into the breadcrumbs, coat the ring completely with the breadcrumbs (one at a time).
  10. After coating , place the ring back in the freezer for one hour before frying
  11. Deep fry the onion rings in medium hot oil for about 4-5 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  12. Place the rings on a absorbent paper after frying and serve hot with your favorite dip.
