Huawei unveiled its another P series flagships smartphones, P40, P40 Pro and P40 Pro +. In this post, we are going to explore Huawei P40 Pro. Although it isn’t the highest tier model in the register, P40 pro still brings a bunch of high-end features which is gonna compete with Galaxy S20 Ultra in almost every area, except “World’s first Quad curved display”. The main upgrade on the P40 devices is the camera which takes the phone to another level.
Design-wise the P40 Pro is not very unique but it’s super stylish and is quite fitting for a modern flagship. It is made from glass with a frame of aluminium with a matte finish. The 4 curved corners make the device quite sleek and elegant. For audio, the P40 Pro has a single bottom loudspeaker which is located at the bottom. The volume rocker is placed on the right edge and it has no headphone jack.
P40 Pro has a beautiful 6.58 inch OLED overflow display, which is spilling over the sides. The display is sharp and vibrant with stunning viewing angles. Its resolution is in between full HD and quad HD, which is around 2640×1200. The phone supports 90 Hertz refresh rate which is pretty smooth but not the best like 120 Hertz as in Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. It also has the in-display fingerprint sensor with 30% larger sensing area and punch holes on the screen supports facial unlock, both sensors work really fast.
Huawei has always paid attention to their cameras and this device camera takes the best photos ever on a phone because it is built with the world’s biggest smartphone camera sensor. As we have seen over the last few years that cameras are becoming the biggest differentiating factor between flagships so they are slowly invading more and more back area of our phones.
This device has the quad-camera system with 50 MP main camera, absolutely massive 1/1.28 inch sensor, 40 MP ultra-wide camera and a 12 MP 5x optical periscope camera. Huawei said this camera can capture the kind of details where each picture can tell multiple stories at once. You can crop any part of a shot and still see enough details that all stand in its own right. Around the front, you get a 32 MP selfie camera which also works best in night mode and it captures 4k video.
Battery and Storage
It looks like wireless charging will be one of the frontiers to make a major jump in 2020 and Huawei is aiming to be in the lead. The battery in this phone is 4200 mAp which is not the biggest like Galaxy S20 Ultra but it supports the wireless charging and wired charging of massive 40W of power which is the best in the industry right now.
P40 Pro is pretty generous with 256 GB of storage and 8 GB RAM onboard and it is expandable using Huawei nano memory cards.
The device is powered by premium hardware including the latest Kirin 990 5G chipset and it uses updated software based on Android 10 which also supports 5G and everything works very fast. We also get IP68 water and dust protection and you can expect awesome gaming performance.
In Conclusion, despite having the class-leading specs and outstanding features, one can hold back buying this phone due to lack of Google services with no Google Play, YouTube, Gmail, etc. installed on the phone. But you can use the clone app to copy apps from your old phone which will transfer “most” but “not all” of your apps to your P40 device. Let us know your thoughts down in the comment below.
