How long can you keep chicken kebabs in fridge?
Raw chicken kebabs can be refrigerated for maximum of 2 days. Cooked kebabs will last for 4 days. Also you can freeze them up to 1 month. But remember, nothing tastes like FRESH.
Are metal or wood skewers better?
It is best to use flat metal skewers for ground meat because it holds the shape firmly, avoiding meat glides. Metal skewers are also good for red meat since they take longer to cook when compared to chicken, so there is no risk of burning like wooden skewers. It also avoids sticking of meat on to the skewers. Moreover, metal skewers are re-usable which makes them environment friendly.
Bamboo skewers works well with meat chunks, and it is best to use it when you are cooking kebabs on stove or in oven.
Can you put wooden handle skewers in the oven?
Yes, but make sure to soak wooden skewers in water for 30 – 60 mins. That way, wood won’t catch fire.
Here are the best kebab skewers that the market has to offer
Easy Chicken kebab recipe
- 500 grams – boneless skinless chicken breast, chopped into squares (2 medium breasts)
- 2 bell peppers, chopped into squares (any color)
- 9-10 cherry tomatoes
- 1 tbsp – olive oil
- 2 tbsp yogurt
- 1 tbsp thick cream
- 1 tsp black pepper powder (or as per your taste)
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp green chilli paste (optional)
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
- salt to taste
Step 2 – Cut the capsicum in to square pieces. Now add olive oil to capsicum and cherry tomatoes and mix well. ( Feel free to add more veggies like zucchini, baby corns, onions etc to make it more flavorful and healthy).
Step 3 – In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, yogurt, cream, black pepper powder, garlic paste, ginger paste, green chilli paste, and salt. Now add the chicken cubes and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Step 4 – Place peppers, cherry tomatoes, and chicken onto skewers (alternating between the three). Repeat.
Step 5 – Spray cooking oil on the grilling tray and set chicken kebabs on it. Place the tray in the center rack. Cook the kebabs until golden brown, rotating them every five minutes.
Step 6 – Remove from oven/grill and squeeze on lime juice and enjoy these quick, easy and delicious chicken kebabs.
- Cut chicken pieces in equal size for even grilling and browning.
- Marinate chicken a day before for extra flavors.
- You can also fry these kebabs on frying pan/tawa.
- Use chicken thighs for kebabs as they are more flavorful.
- Do not place skewers one on another while grilling so that they can cook evenly.
- Adjust the chilli and pepper powder according to your taste.
- Defrost the chicken kebabs completely before they go on grill, if you have freezed it. Otherwise they will turn dry and tasteless.
